Maserati Quattroporte vs Mercedes-Benz S550 : Which Will You Choose Quattro or S550

With respect to four-door luxury performance, models like Maserati Quattroporte and the S550 from Mercedes-Benz represent iconic characteristics that keep enthusiasts returning to the segment year after year. The automakers’ respective trident and tri-star emblems go a long way toward communicating the refined sense of strength indicative of that iconic character, though exterior aesthetics forged as expressions of sophisticated stability play a part as well. This is what makes these models such worthy competitors.

In an effort to understand the unique character traits of each luxury model, Continental AutoSports has set Maserati Quattroporte vs. Mercedes-Benz S550 in a side-by-side comparison. The results of that research are presented in the table above—though thoughtful context is required to make best sense of the data.

Comparing Maserati Quattroporte and Mercedes-Benz S550
While performance metrics are a significant consideration when it comes to the luxury sedan segment, comparing Maserati Quattroporte vs. Mercedes-Benz S550 yields counterintuitive results. Though the S550 sedan is equipped with a 449-horsepower, twin-turbocharged V8 courtesy of Mercedes-Benz, the twin-turbo V6 that powers Maserati Quattroporte reaches a higher top speed and runs zero to 60 in an identical interval. It’s worth noting that Mercedes electronically limits the S550 to a top speed of 155 mph—serving to show that displacement is not always an accurate indication of a vehicle’s real-world performance profile.

As far as Chicago-area luxury clients are concerned, there’s also a great deal of real-world performance value in Maserati’s standard Q4 drivetrain. Particularly in low-traction, winter weather conditions, Q4 intelligently manages torque distribution between all four Maserati wheels for consummate vehicle control.

Having filled in a number of gaps with the thoughtful context promised above, Continental AutoSports invites those comparing the Maserati Quattroporte vs. Mercedes-Benz S550 to experience the former’s fine Italian engineering and craftsmanship at the dealership’s Hinsdale location. Lamborghini Sesto Elemento

Lamborghini has already confirmed that the Sesto Elemento will indeed be headed to the production line, albeit in a very limited run. With such a minute number being produced, anyone would be hard-pressed to get know when Lamborghini is even actively selling it, let alone be able to grab hold of one of those units. The task of purchasing an Elemento got even harder as a high-end dealership in La Jolla, just north of San Diego, confirmed that Lamborghini was already accepting orders for the car and that only three units were headed over to the United States. The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento will be offered at a princely sum and rumors suggest that payment will be taken Reventon-style, which means three equal payments of $300,000 or higher with the remainder being paid at the end of the deal. That kind of price tag will bring its owner a 570 HP V10 engine and a power-to-weight ratio of only 1.75 kilograms per HP. This allows the Sesto Elemento to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in a sensational 2...
