Hennessey Venom GT2

Hennessey Performance have just released a number of renderings which show the latest iteration of the their Lotus Elise based supercar. The original Venom GT from 2010 showed just what was possible given a decent donor car, an twin-turbocharged LS9 V8, and lots and lots of clever engineering. With the Venom GT2 Hennessey have raised their own, already stratospheric, performance bar, considerably, and also made a few alterations to the car’s exterior design.
The Hennessey Venom GT2 is powered by a 7.0 litre twin-turbocharged V8 which produces a mind-blowing 1,500 + horsepower. In addition a seven-speed paddle-shift transmission appears in the options list. Hennessey are keeping any additional details to themselves for the time being. Further information is expected later next year.

As well as the modifications to the drivetrain, Hennessey have also toyed with the Venom GT2’s aerodynamics. The prominent double-bubble roof not only looks good, but it also helps accommodate tall drivers. At the front there’s been some changes to the bumper, and a new set of LED headlights make the car look far less like the Lotus on which it’s based. Fancy dihedral-opening doors round out the updates for the 2013 car.
UPDATE: Hennessey have just revealed that the Venom GT2 is NOT a replacement for the Venom GT. Both cars will be sold alongside each other. The price for the 2014 Venom GT2 is a cool $1.25 million. The seven-speed transmission adds an unbelievable $165,000 to that number!

Peugeot RC

The RC concept was designed at the Peugeot Style Centre. Intended as a true enthusiasts car, the real innovation lay in the fact that the car was designed as an "affordable" sports car. The Peugeot RC was the concept car that paved the way for the 2008 Peugeot RC HYmotion4 concept. Peugeot used the 2002 RC concept to compare performance and economy differences between comparable petrol and diesel engines. As an affordable sports car the RC had to deliver not only in terms of price, but there was the engine, the size and running costs, as well as driver comforts to consider. A wide panoramic windscreen and the cab forward seating helps the driver see all around the car and compensates for the effect caused by the length of the car. In the Petrol vs. Diesel experiment, Peugeot aimed to prove that an HDi engine could match the performance levels achieved from a petrol engine. And to demonstrate that it was not unreasonable to put an HDi engine in a sports car. The 2 resulti...
