BMW GT by Emil Baddal

The Emil Baddal first idea of this BMW GT concept was to enroll a new imaginary class to the product line for BMW, fulfilling what the car maker really missed in nowadays productions. So he designed a mid-engine super sport, not to be a sleek super car but one muscular looking, raging super car, with V8 4.0 liter supercharged engine. The BMW GT concept was developed using Autodesk 3DS MAX software for modeling and rendering the final product. 1969 BMW Spicup Convertible Coupe

In the early 1960s BMW has unveiled the 3200CS - a coupe developed in cooperation with Carrozzeria Bertone. But Giorgetto Giugiaro wanted to prove he can do even more than that. The result of this desire was the "Spicup" concept. The concept was unveiled at the 1969 Geneva Salon and in the same year was exhibited at the Concorso d’Eleganza in Allassio in June and finally at that year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. After that it is believed that the concept was sold to a private owner and in the mid-1970 it has been spotted at the German mega-dealer Auto Becker in Düsseldorf. After that the car has been registered in the Netherlands and used as a ’daily driver’. Now the concept has been restored to concurs condition and has been auction at the Bonhams auction for an impressive €460,000 or about $600,000 at the current exchange rates. Hit the jump to read more about the BMW Spicup Convertible Coupe. Standard Concept The concept unveiled in the 1969 was pow...

2016 BMW 435i ZHP Edition

SPECIFICATIONS: year: 2016 make: BMW Model: 4 Series price: $ 48500 (Est.) Engine: inline-6 Transmission: 6-speed manual Horsepower @ RPM: 335 Torque @ RPM: 317 Displacement: 3.0 L 0-60 time: 4.5 sec. Top Speed: 155 mph (Est.)   Much like the 3 Series Coupe that preceded it, the 4 Series lineage has grown to include a multitude of trims. Ranging from fuel-efficient diesels to the more powerful 335i, and from the four-door Gran Coupe to the Convertible, the 4 Series family can satisfy a wide range of customers. Come 2015 and BMW added a new iteration to the 4 Series. Interestingly enough, it’s not a new base model that would bring a fuel-sipping powerplant to the U.S., but a performance-oriented car positioned above the range-topping 435i. Meet the 435i ZHP Edition, or the first 4 Series likely to become a collectible in the near future. I say "collectible" because the coupe you see here is limited to only 100 examples, making it the rarest 4 Series as of 2015. ...

The BMW 507 Vintage Car

The BMW 507 was a brief but brilliant reinstatement of BMW’s sporting heritage that had flourished with the successful BMW 328 prior to World War II. Launched in 1955, the 507 was envisioned by American BMW importer Max Hoffman to fill the divide between the Mercedes-Benz 300SL and the far less expensive and powerful offerings from MG and Triumph. Mechanical components were largely sourced from the 502 and 503 series, with engineering led by Fritz Fiedler. Since Hoffman was dissatisfied with preliminary body designs, he eventually had Count Albrecht Goertz, who had the earlier 503 already to his credit, pen the sensuous lines of the 507. - QUICK SPECS - MAKE: BMW MODEL: 507 YEAR: 1959 ENGINE: 3.2L V8 0-60 TIME: 8.800 HP: 150 As with all its cars, the 507 was a tangible expression of the characteristic BMW excellence in performance, construction and design. At once an elegant masterpiece and a downright gorgeous design with sensuous curves, the 507 was powered by the 3.2-li...

Is it too retro or a modernistic take on th...

BMW Z4 coupe

The Stunning BMW Z4 coupe seen at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor show was an extension of the Z4 range. The well adjusted lines of the coupe did justice to the original convertible Z4model on which the concept was based. The Z4 coupe did not stay a concept for long as a production model began in 2006. A longitudinally mounted 3.0L straight-six engine developing 265 bhp powers the rear wheels of the coupe providing maximum driver enjoyment. This is a drivers car. The 19 inch wheels BMW has displayed on the coupe are pushed to the very extremes of the car, like the convertible. The Z4 coupe also shares the multiple clashing style lines that create interesting shapes all over the cars body, from every angle new shadows and shapes are seen. BMW designed the interior of the coupe to appear spacious and inviting, enhanced on this concept by the use of light coloured materials. The interior trim material of choice is aluminium for the racing feel, along with nubuck leather for luxury. It is wor...

BMW i8 Spyder

The BMW i8 Concept Spyder was a roofless version of the i8 Coupe. The 2012 i8 Concept Spyder was fractionally closer to being production viable than its hardtop doppelganger, and there were a few other minor, yet important differences. Firstly it featured a slightly shorter wheelbase and overall length, this actually suits the car and gives it a more sports car-like appearance – it also reduces the car to a strict two-seater, instead of the 2+2 arrangement in the coupe. And Secondly, the Coupe’s complicated glass-covered doors have been replaced with more sensible solid doors – but they still have a dramatic hinge-mechanism. The BMW i8 Concept Spyder features a lightweight carbon-fibre-reinforced architecture which provides protection for the occupants. The front and rear subframes are formed from aluminium and provide housing for the hybrid drivetrain. The i8 Spyder’s power comes from a combination of a mid-mounted 1.5 litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine o...

BMW Vision Gran Turismo

The company famous for building the ultimate driving machines developed the BMW Vision Gran Turismo, a virtual race car, for use in the driving game Gran Turismo 6. The BMW Vision Gran Turismo follows on from the Mercedes-Benz Vision Gran Turismo, which was added to the game in 2013. The BMW Vision Gran Turismo was inspired by BMW touring cars from the 1970s, and judging by that massive rear wing, the BMW CSL “Batmobile”is was one of the primary influences. Looking at the headlight design and the overall proportions, the basis for the racing concept looks to be the BMW 2-Series Coupe instead of the larger 4-Series. The paint work in traditional BMW M colors is designed to highlight the airflow around the vehicle. While the BMW Vision Gran Turismo might only exist in a virtual reality, in order to attain the high levels of realism and immersive action the game requires, the designers have made sure to back up the pretty 3D model with properly thought-out engineering undern...

BMW GINA

The BMW GINA changes the design rulebook concept which features clever use of materials and technology. The GINA acronym stands for 'Geometry In "N" Adaptions'. The 'N' stands for infinite. Quite logical really... While at first glance the BMW GINA appears to be nothing more than a modified and stretched BMW Z4. As soon as the doors are opened it reveals its true nature. Covering the lightweight spaceframe of the BMW GINA are not conventional metal bodypanels, but instead an elastic, rubber-like material is stretched across the structural members and wire frame to form an attractive design which follows BMW's flame surfacing styling philosophy. This elastic material has given BMW's designers more options when designing various moving parts of the GINA concept. The doors for example have no shut line along their front edge as the material just moves with the door. At the rear the electro-hydraulic adjustable spoiler rises and lowers under the skin of...

BMW S.X

The BMW S.X Concept is a proposal for a premium sports coupe developed by Iulian Bumbu, a graduate of the Transportation Design Course at the Scuola Politecnica di Design (SPD) in Milan. Bumbu's previous designs include the Lamborghini Insectaconcept. The BMW S.X Concept represents a personal vision of what a next generation luxury sports coupe from BMW could look like. The S.X would be well positioned to take over where the current 6 Series BMW leaves off, and the styling of the S.X should gather more positive responses than the 6 Series does. The dimensions of the S.X Concept dictate that the vehicle would be wider and lower than the current car, with a longer wheelbase but slightly shorter overall length. The exterior design of the BMW S.X Concept continues the flame-surfacing styling language of all current BMW's, a trend pioneered by BMW's former chief designer Chris Bangle. However whereas some BMW design elements could be described as awkward, the S.X does a good j...

BMW M5

Call our response to the latest BMW M6 Gran Coupe and M5 sedan lukewarm. Our tests prove they’re plenty fast, but they lack the visceral communication and engaging soul that made the E39 M5 legendary. We ranked the M5 third in a comparison test against its Audi and Mercedes rivals. Now comes the Competition package, named not with the S6 and E63 AMG in mind but rather to denote track-day intentions. Realistically, few large, luxurious four-doors with six-digit sticker prices are going to flirt with racetrack guardrails, so think of the Competition package as a $7300 blue pill ($6000 on the Gran Coupe) that promises to revive the rorty, racing-derived spirit of the M subbrand’s heritage. The package is also available for the M6 coupe and convertible. Brief drives in the M5 and M6 GC show that the Competition pack never lets the driver forget he’s sacrificed comfort on the altar of trackworthy performance. Stiffer springs, dampers, and anti-roll bars, ride heights lowe...
