The Kanza (khan-zah) Supercar design by Greg Thompson is the winner of the 2013 Supercar Body Challenge organized by “GrabCAD” and “500 Group”. The challenge was to create a body for a 1000+hp twin turbo roadster, starting with a chassis available in CAD format and developing both a street and a track version, with a deadline in January 13, 2014. The cash prize for the first winner was $2,000, and the second price ($1,000) won Pedro Almeida with his 500G Razor Supercar.
The idea of the challenge was to create a timeless design without using styling cues usually associated with other manufacturers.
According to Greg, the design represents elegant solution to the idea of a super car, uncompromising performance, attention to detail, and consistency in refinement. The body is kept simple and without unnecessary interruption in the surfacing. The details that are present are derived from purpose, crafted for speed and control.
Greg explains he spent around 200 hours on this challenge before letting the computer process out renders 24h a day.
