The Ferrari Aliante concept is a study of an extreme two-seat roadster created for the Ferrari World Design Contest 2011, hosted by Ferrari. The project was developed by three students from the IED (Istituto Europeo di Design), in Turin, Italy. The original concept sketches were developed by Arunkumar Shanmugam, while Daniel Soriano and Magnus Grettve carried out the 3d modeling and rendering processes.
The mid-engine concept feature low car profile with carbon fiber body design and extreme aerodynamic styling reinforced with adjustable spoiler that reacts to current speed to regulate down force. It also feature two distinctive side air intakes and a large lower lip that runs along the entire length of the car to further increase the overall down force. Another typical element of the Aliante concept is the transparent engine cover, making the whole engine exposed.
The Ferrari Aliante concept was inspired by Formula One racing cars and street legal Ferrari GTs and took 6 months to complete. The project is only a concept car and there are no further plans for production.
